Future Sounds · a social enterprise

Community through creativity

We join up local arts and music practitioners with the people around them. We do this directly, and through the schools, councils and social prescribers who already work with local people. The more we connect, the greater the benefit.

What we do

Three ways we help local arts and music thrive

We started by connecting music tutors with schools and young people. The same approach works for a whole town: linking practitioners with local people, and with the schools, councils and social prescribers who serve them.

Joining up creative communities

We link artists, musicians and teachers with local people, directly and through schools, councils and social prescribers, with facilitation and a ready-made platform.

How it works →

Music projects for young people

We bring schools, expert music tutors and funders together to design hands-on music projects, from first instruments to producing a mixtape.

Future Sounds Events

We help events and collaborations happen that otherwise wouldn't. We spark ideas, advise people running events, and run some ourselves.

Why it matters

Most towns already have the practitioners. Local people, and the services that support them, often don't know they're there.

A social prescriber looks for a singing group for someone who is lonely, while a choir down the road wants new members. A school wants a visiting musician while one lives two streets away. Joining these up costs little and makes a visible difference.

Local people
One place to find what's on, who teaches what, and how to take part.
Practitioners
Artists, musicians, teachers and groups reach new participants, collaborators and venues.
Schools
Local musicians and artists to enrich lessons, clubs and performances.
Councils
A clear picture of local cultural activity, and evidence of what it adds to health, town centres and community life.
Social prescribers
Trusted, up-to-date creative activities to refer people to.

The platform

Software for a town's creative community

A simple, accessible website that a town makes its own. Local people keep it up to date; we look after the technology. It already runs the Uckfield Chamber of Arts and Music.
