Future Sounds Events

We help events and collaborations happen that otherwise wouldn't. We spark ideas, advise people running events, and run some events ourselves.

What we do

Three ways we help events happen

Every town has more ideas than it has time, contacts or know-how to deliver. We can help fill the gap, from a first conversation to the night itself.

Spark ideas

We bring practitioners, venues and partners together to come up with ideas and find the people to make them happen.

  • Ideas sessions and Open Space events
  • Introductions between people who should meet
  • Turning an idea into a simple plan

Advise on running events

We help groups, schools and venues plan and run their own events well, so they can do it again.

  • Planning, budgets and venues
  • Licensing, safeguarding and access
  • Promotion and measuring results

Run events ourselves

Where no one else is placed to, we produce events directly, often as a first step that local partners can take on later.

  • Performer pathways for young people
  • Showcases and community celebrations
  • Gatherings for the local network

The difference we make

Would it have happened anyway?

We ask this about every event and collaboration we're involved in, and keep a record. It's how we, and our partners, know the work is worthwhile.

Started by us
It began with an idea, introduction or event from Future Sounds.
Helped by us
Someone else led it, and our advice, contacts or platform made it bigger, better or easier.
Celebrated by us
We still list and celebrate arts and music events in the local area to help show what can be done when people make the right connections.

Events we run

A pathway for performers

For young bands, singer-songwriters, DJs and MCs. Each step builds confidence and stagecraft, and helps performers find an audience.

  1. 1

    Open mic

Supportive, low-pressure nights for first-timers to try a song or a set.

  2. 2

    Showcase

Shared stages for young people's projects, such as Mix Mentor and Local Band Workshops.

  3. 3

    Gig night

Professionally produced nights at local venues, with a real audience.

  4. Upcoming events

Coming in December 2026 – Future Talent Open Mic Night
